A little more wonder.

A homeschool world I built for my family, where assignments become adventures, learning earns Moons, and a little organization makes room for a lot more curiosity.

I'm a software engineer and a homeschooling mom. This is the system our family actually uses, shared here as a glimpse behind the scenes.

Why I built it

The teaching wasn't the hard part.

I work full-time, and I homeschool. What wore me down wasn't the lessons. It was everything around them: what was assigned, what got finished, what still needed checking, who had earned which reward, and whether any of it was being recorded somewhere I could find later.

As a highly sensitive parent, that steady hum of open loops took more out of me than I expected. So I did what I know how to do and built something. Lunara Quest holds the lists, the records, and the reward math, so my head doesn't have to. And it gives my kids a place to start their day that feels more like an adventure than a checklist.

The goal was never a perfect system. It was more room for curiosity, and a little less for me to carry.

Assignments become quests

I plan by subject and by week. Each morning, my kids open their own portal and find the day laid out as quests, with chores right alongside. Lesson pages can even be read aloud to them.

Finishing work earns Moons, and I can see at a glance what got done without asking "did you do your math?" five times.

Learning earns Moons

Moons are the little currency of Lunara Quest. Kids earn them for lessons, chores, and other work, then spend them in a shop of rewards I choose and price myself.

A purchase comes to me as a request to approve, so rewards stay a family conversation rather than a vending machine.

Our custom spelling program

Spelling that meets them where they are

I built our spelling program from scratch. It starts with a quick placement ("could they spell these?"), then adapts from there: new words, and older ones brought back for review right when they're due.

Each word is dictated by a narrated voice, with a sentence available on request. After a miss, my child writes the word correctly once before moving on. I can add our own words, and a report shows which spelling patterns are sticking.

Reviewing work, and records that keep themselves

Submitted work lands in one place for me to review, grade, and leave feedback on. Meanwhile, attendance, hours by subject, grades, progress reports, and transcripts build up quietly as we go.

When I need homeschool records, they are already there.

A little world that's still growing

Lunara Quest is our family's working homeschool project. We use it for real, and I keep refining it as our needs change, smoothing rough edges and adding the small things we keep wishing for.

It isn't open to new families. For now, it's ours, and I'm sharing it because building it changed how our homeschool feels.
